Twenty Reasons for the Invisibility of Gods

I always wondered why Gods don’t explicitly manifest themselves to humans. I believe there are many possible reasons. Here are twenty of them, all logical and plausible. There are surely more, but it is already a decent collection. Enjoy the discovery, especially the ones that you feel most in tune with:

  1. They don’t exist (obvious reason)

  2. They have nothing to say (enviable silence)

  3. They don’t care (wise indifference)

  4. They are not convinced of their personal interest in intervening (salutary egoism)

  5. They are afraid that if they intervene in our affairs, we then feel allowed to interfere in theirs (justified fear)

  6. They are not certain of the good outcomes of their intervention (measured altruism)

  7. They are busy creating other universes (amnesic creation) (each universe contains billions of billions of stars and planets, if they spend 7 days for each planet or star, then they definitely need eternity to finish all this up)

  8. They called us, but no one answered. So, offended, they decided not to utter a single word again (redemptory grudge)

  9. They spoke to us, but their language was unknown to human kind, and they didn’t find it worth their time to learn our language (revealing carelessness)

  10. They passed on to us few messages, but people misunderstood their ideas and the results were opposite to what they intended (curative disappointment)

  11. It has been such a long time since they created the earth, they don’t really understand anymore how it works down here. Therefore, they prefer to stay silent instead of giving ill-founded advice (celestial wisdom)

  12. One day, they gave a piece of advice to one of their sons (guess to whom and what it was), this latter paid it with his life. Since then, they decided to stop giving any advice to anyone (enlightening experience)

  13. They created us to see us manage through it all, alone (exulting/delightful sadism, another version of free will)

  14. They created us with a complete pre-written destiny. Everything they needed to tell us or wanted us to do was already programmed in us (“flawless” planning)

  15. After creating humans, they realized how uncontrollable we are and accepted their powerlessness in managing our existence (desperate defeat)

  16. They are so elevated and drunk with their divinity, that they haven’t found the adequate way back to earth and the modest means to communicate again with humans (discriminatory conceit)

  17. They haven’t been able to decide who among humans is worthy of their direct attention. Until they do, they decided to remain silence (worrisome deliberation)

  18. All the emissaries they sent to humans went back with one recommendation: “leave them alone, they are beyond salvation” (Well said)

  19. They know that we don’t really care. We largely remember them when we are in difficult situations and mostly forget about them the rest of the time (eternal disappointment)

  20. Finally, they know, since they created us in their own image, how self-centred and ungrateful we were created. When things go right, we loudly claim their ownership, and when things go wrong we bluntly blame it on them. So, they decided to, forever, leave us be, have, and do. (perpetual abandonment)

 THE ETERNAL COMEDY

We are here to spend few years and then disappear. We try our best to enjoy as many of these years as our luck and will allow. Knowing more about life and understanding some of its intricacies will give us more chances to succeed in our quest for joy. The eternal comedy is a collection of ideas, reflections and observations on many of the ingredients that are critical to understand life.

None of the articles will provide the reader with any answer to any of the useless questions of where do we come from, where are we going and why are we here. The knowledge and maybe the wisdom the readers might get out of the articles, whether they like them or not, will help them in answering the most important question:
how can we create in our life more joy than sorrow and more happiness than sadness?”
